For sale here is an 8' 2/2 5wt E.C. Powell bamboo rod in very good used condition. Semi-hollow construction, featuring medium tempered cane, lightly oxidized guides and small agate stripping guide. Wraps are golden bronze with full intermediate wraps. Ferrules fit nicely and the sections are straight and full length. One tip has a clear repair wrap ~2.5" long, between the 1st and 2nd snake guide down from the tip top. Snake guide hook keeper, 6" grip is lightly soiled with a hint of ridging and bears the all-too common cork chip at the reel seat hood. Standard Powell up-locking reel seat over Bakelite spacer. Weight is 3.63oz. Medium fast action, it feels like a B-taper to me. One unusual feature of this rod is a lack of patent number on the butt section, even though the black & white wraps above the hook keeper indicate a semi-hollow rod. By my estimation the rod is original, except for the clear wrap on the one tip. 8' E.C. Powell trout rods are rare birds, don't let this one pass you by.
